The moment you've all been waiting for, a brand new episode of the Deep Six Podcast with Matt Barnes, and Steven Spevak, is here!

 

Starting off the show are two quick take segments where the guys discuss the announcement from Vince McMahon that the XFL will be returning in 2020, as well as our first look at the Andre the Giant documentary set to hit HBO this spring!

 

Transition into comic news!  DC seemingly kills off a major Batman character, a group of DC fans are petitioning to turn the Joker into an openly homosexual character, we learn about Marvel's 2018 Young Guns roster, and more!  

 

We then venture into gaming news!  This week Matt gives us a peek into some upcoming new releases for February, some potential woes affecting Bioware, the Avengers Project adding 15 industry veterans to its development team, and more!  He also gives us a quick review for episode four of TellTale's 'Batman: The Enemy Within,' as well as our new favorite nonsense indie game, 'Genital Jousting!'

 

Next stop, entertainment news!  From John Cena potentially staring in a 'Duke Nukem' film, to ABC' ordering a female led reboot of the 'Greatest American Hero!' We also discuss the first images of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, 'The Shining,' sequel landing a director, and DC's slate of films apparently getting a shake up.

 

To close out the show this week, we come back around to comics with our review of the brand new wrestling centric indie title, 'To Be The Man: Evil Ain't Good,' from creators Josh Taylor, and Jared Vaughan Davis!  Set in the heyday of the 80's territories, this book focuses on "two booze-fueled professional wrestlers on the road in Reagan's 'Murica fighting Evil in and out of the ring."  You don't want to miss this!

Deep Six Podcast 053: Dan Slott To Iron Man / Genital Jousting / ‘Flashpoint’ Finds Directors

It's Monday, so you know what that means! It's Steven's birthday! Oh, and theres a new episode of the Deep Six Podcast as well...

Comic news this week sees the guys talking about Tom King's announcement of 'Sanctuary' coming to DC Comics, Marvel canceling all three titles that they had nominated in the 2017 GLAAD awards, and Archie Comics canceling their anticipated 'Dick Tracy' reboot. There is also talk about Dan Scott leaving 'Amazing Spider-Man' to take over as the writer for 'Iron Man' over at Marvel.

Of course we follow that up with Matt, and the ever exciting gaming news segment! He goes into detail about the recent reveal of Steam indie title, 'Genital Jousting' gaining a story mode... Yeah... We also hear about some rumored upcoming Lego titles, the reveal of Nintendo's 'Labo' project, and how a group of VRChat players potentially saved a mans life.

Closing out the show is of course movie news, where we discuss the recent reports of Tom Holland's Spider-Man showing up in the Tom Hardy lead Venom film due out this fall. We also touch slightly on 'Spider-Man Homecoming 2' adding 'Daredevil' and 'IT' crew members to its production team, as well as the news that Francis Daley, and Jonathan Goldstein, have been tapped to Direct 'Flashpoint!'

The Deep Six Podcast is here for another Monday full of all the nerd news you may have missed from the week that was! Yes Steven and Matt are here again to fill you in in all the happenings from the world of comics, gaming, television, and movies!

Things start off with a hefty dose of comic news, as Steven informs us of the 100 best-selling comics of 2017 according to Previews World. Following that he previews a few up and coming books to be put out by Marvel and Boom Studios, then the guys discuss the allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently come out against Stan Lee.

In gaming news this week, Matt talks about the return of X-Box’s massive “Duke” controller, the recent news on upcoming releases from Nintendo Direct, and the awakening of Cyberpunk 2077. On top of all that we learn about what Matt has been playing recently, as well as what Steven hasn’t been playing.

We finally arrive at the television and film news for the week! Starting with WWE superstars John Cena, and Samoa Joe, taking on voice acting roles in TMNT and Transformers respectively. We then learn about two female lead superhero films entering development with Kitty Pryde, and Black Widow. We also learn about the release dates for Fox’s upcoming X-Men films getting moved around, Potential spoilers for Avengers 4 with leaked set photos, and the boys fan-cast Fantastic Four after talks of John Krasinski as Reed Richards gain steam.​

New Year, New Deep Six Podcast! Yes it's 2018 and your favorite nerd-centric podcast rolls on with hosts Matt Barnes, and Steven Spevak!

The first Deep Six Podcast of 2018 begins with our fan favorite, comic news segment! From Gail Simone penning a new Domino ongoing series for Marvel, Kendrick Lamar producing, "Black Panther: The Album," to Brian Michael Bendis officially starting at DC Comics, we cover all of it. We also learn about what comics Steven picked up this past week, what comics are on his pull for this week, and we also look at the featured new releases selected by Previews World!

We follow that up with the gaming news portion of the show. This week Matt covers the 2017 Steam Awards, "Gaming Disorder," the free offering from Xbox Live Gold & Playstation Plus, and some pretty interesting game mods that caught his attention. We also discuss the firing of IGN Editor-in-Chief, Steven Butts, after an investigation into alleged misconduct.

Next is television and movie news, which is pretty beefy this week. We start with Netflix casting Kiernan Shipka, As Sabrina The Teenage Witch, then move to Bryan Singer's status as executive producer on both 'Legion' & 'The Gifted.' But that's not all! Theres also news on 'Game of Thrones,' the return of 'The Animaniacs,' the recently announced sequel to 'Bright,' and more!

And finally, rounding out this action packed edition of the Deep Six Podcast, is the long anticipated review of 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi!' We know you've all been waiting to hear our thoughts on the lattes offering from a "Galaxy Far Far Away," so hopefully we don't disappoint you.
