Deep Six Podcast 060: ‘Vengeance: Nevada’ Comic Review / Marisa Livingston Illustrates ‘The Office’ / ‘Deadpool 2′ Trailer

March 26, 2018

Holy cow, we're already at episode 60 of the Deep Six Podcast!? Feels like just last week we were at episode 59... Time just flies when you're ranting about nonsense, never the less, Steven and Matt are back for your listening enjoyment!

The quick hit for this week's show sees the guys discussing artist, Marisa Livingston's, reimagining of the cast of 'The Office' as cutesy, almost Disney-esque, cartoon characters. These illustrations are so fantastic that it makes us wish it was for more than just fun. *COUGH* Netflix original series *COUGH*

That gets followed up by comic news, where we learn that the famed, Meltdown Comics in Los Angles, will be closing its doors after 25 years, on March 30th. Marvel comes into the fold with news on an original comic story from The Weeknd, and 'Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur' jumping into reality with their upcoming photographic covers. DC isn't left out this week as we learn of their plans for a 'Justice League' relaunch from Scott Snyder, the 'Teen Titans' find themselves with an all new lineup starting in June, and Frank Miller inks a five-project deal with DC as part of their unitive to drive bookstore sales.

This week's show also features an independent comic review of, 'Vengeance, Nevada' from writer B.J. Mendelson (Social Media is Bullshit, Privacy: And How to Get It Back), and artists Isidore Koliavras & Peter Czaplarski. Described as, "a wild, superhero-horror adventure set in the American West," you wont want to miss what Steven & Matt have to say about it!

Matt then switches it over to gaming news where he talks about the Nintendo Switch officially becoming the best selling console ever in the US over it's first year.  He also fills us in on the new name for the 'Ataribox,' and gives us some preorder details.  There is also news on the status of publisher, Ubisoft, following concerns of a takeover, co-op details for 'A Way Out', and 'Hellblade' coming to Xbox One. He also sprinkles in news on the possibility of Banjo being lent out by Microsoft for the upcoming 'Super Smash Bros.' release, a potential open world 'Star Wars' title in the works over at EA, and how the US Navy is controlling one of it's newest attack submarines using an Xbox 360 controller!

Entertainment news takes us on a journey as we have a new clip from 'Avengers: Infinity War,' featuring Thor & the Guardians of the Galaxy, that has made its way online after airing during Nickelodeon's Kid Choice Awards. The guys also give their take on the recent Chris Evans interview with the New York Times, where he suggest that he may be walking away from the shield of Captain America following 'Avengers 4.' There's also a bit of 'Deadpool' news to talk about as it was revealed this week that FX has pulled the plug on Donald Glover's animated Deadpool series, and we also have a brand new trailer for the 'Merc with a mouth's' second silver screen offering!

Deep Six Podcast 059: Toys ‘R’ Us Closing / Drake Plays Fortnite / New ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Trailer

March 19, 2018

It Monday once again, which means its time to listen to the two old lasdies of the Deep Six Podcast, Steven and Matt, bicker back-and-forth at each other about all of the nerd news to come out of the past week!

Of course we open this week's show with the quick hits, and the news that Toys 'R' Us will essentially close its doors for good within the next two months. Matt and Steven reminisce about what it was like to walk through the aisles upon aisles of action figures, board games, bikes, video games, and pretty much everything a kid could ever want.

That shoots us straight into the comic news for this week where Steven gives us the scoop on the mysterious Avenger, Voyager, and her recently revealed origin. He also hits on Marvel revealing new Fantastic Four costumes in Marvel-Two-In-One, and Chip Zdarsky signing an exclusive deal with Marvel!  We close it out with this week's featured releases from PREVIEWSworld.

Next up is video game news with Matt, where we find out about Drake setting a new record by when he streamed 'Fortnite' on Twitch this past week. He also gives us some info on Jeff Goldblum's involvement in 'Jurassic World Evolution,' 'Shadow Of The Tomb Raider' getting a release date, and some more details on 'A Way Out.' Matt also tells us about 'Witcher's' Geralt, being the featured character of 'SoulCalibur 6,' and Chucklefish's "Harry Potter like" RPG getting a name.

Entertainment news takes us home as it broke this week that 'A Wrinkle In Time' director, Ava DuVernay, has been tapped to direct 'The News Gods' for Warner Bros and DC, Spike Lee eyeing a 'Nightwatch' film that would be set in Sony's Spider-Man universe, and Danny Boyle confirming that he is developing a film for the 'James Bond' franchise. There's also some Marvel film and television casting news related to 'Luke Cage' and 'Captain Marvel,' and the guys speculate on the recent post from Adi Shankar where he teased a new 'Bootleg Universe' One-Shot to come this Tuesday!  And how could we have a podcast without talking about the brand new trailer for 'Avengers: Infinity War!?'

March 11, 2018

It's Monday, so you know what that means! Steven and Matt are back with a brand spankin' new episode of your favorite nerd news podcast, the Deep Six Podcast!

We start with the quick hits for this week featuring Mark Hamill's lack of knowledge of 'The Witcher,' but his willingness to be involved, as well as Amazon's Alex realizing everyone’s deepest, darkest fear, to Vin Diesel signing on to be part of Valiant comic's 'Bloodshot' film!

This launches us into comic news where we break down the announcement of yet another imprint of DC Comics, dubbed 'Black Label.' This weeks entertainment news closes out the show, but to be fair, we should have just called it the 'Avengers: Infinity War' roundup this week. From the fifteen different character covers for the recent oversized issue of Entertainment Weekly, to the reveal of nine new stills from the film, its runtime, that just begins to scratch the surface of our discussion of Marvel superhero epic due out next month. We also talk about a few articles that reveal information on some of the characters in the film, as well as Kevin Feige's comments about the finality of death in the MCU and what it means for 'Infinity War!'
